Building Denton Diablos with Chad Rakestraw

If you’ve been following along on Twitter, you’ve seen a rash of player signings coming from upstart NPSL team Denton Diablos FC as they prepare for their inaugural season. Watching those player-signing announcements roll across his feed got Dustin curious about the process of filling out a roster from scratch and all that that entails.

He caught up with Diablos head coach Chad Rakestraw to ask him those questions, what success looks like in the first year of the club, what fans can expect on game days in Denton, and more!

Coffee with Jacori Hayes

Dustin met up with FC Dallas midfielder Jacori Hayes for coffee and a chat.

They talked about the loss to Philly, his hamstring injury and recovery, Oscar’s tactics vs Luchi’s Triple-Pivot, college ball at Wake Forest, getting drafted by FC Dallas, going on loan to Tulsa Roughnecks, ~that~ game against NYRB, plus a look at what its like to be a pro-soccer player in Dallas off the field!

Note: Dustin references a specific quote from a Men In Blazers interview with Kellyn Acosta. Jacori questions the quote, so to prove this podcast isn’t fake news, here’s the audio of that quote

Jamie Lovegrove’s Journey: A Sidekicks Story

Earlier in the year Dustin covered a Sidekick’s match. And while the squad has a ton of interesting stories and personalities, Dustin was struck by one in particular. Jamie Lovegrove.

Born in England and pro at 16, he now finds himself in Texas playing for both the Sidekicks and the Ft Worth Vaqueros and even scored the 2018 NPSL goal of the year.

Dustin sat down with Jamie to talk about growing up in England, differences in the youth systems, his decision to move to the US for college, life in the MASL, and much more!

Don’t forget to stick around to the end for instructions on how to win 4 tickets to the Sidekicks game on Sunday March 24th and some autographed Sidekicks player graphics!
