Since Mother’s Day is this weekend, we wanted to take a bit of time to shine some light on the mom’s behind the players we love watch. Raising a professional athlete is no easy task, but these women were up for the challenge!
Dustin caught up with Reggie Cannon’s mom, Tracy Cannon-Smith, to talk about what it was like to raise a pro. They talked about her family, her career, traveling for Reggie’s soccer, balancing all 4 of her kids with the demands of elite soccer, and much more!
If you’ve been following along on Twitter, you’ve seen a rash of player signings coming from upstart NPSL team Denton Diablos FC as they prepare for their inaugural season. Watching those player-signing announcements roll across his feed got Dustin curious about the process of filling out a roster from scratch and all that that entails.
He caught up with Diablos head coach Chad Rakestraw to ask him those questions, what success looks like in the first year of the club, what fans can expect on game days in Denton, and more!

Born in England and pro at 16, he now finds himself in Texas playing for both the Sidekicks and the Ft Worth Vaqueros and even scored the 2018 NPSL goal of the year.
